Aerocraft

Aerocraft are flying vessels capable of allowing Aeromancers to cast spells, much like a staff might aid wizards of other disciplines. While many are built in a fashion that would allow non-Aeromancers to pilot them, they would serve little purpose byeond that of an ordinary airplane or other magic-assisted craft. The most significant use of aerocraft is for combat, and vessels built for this purpose are called aerofighters.

Magic and Aerodynamics

Few modern aerofighters make more than passing concessions to aerodynamics. Thaumaturgic fields are used to ease the vessel's passage through the air and reinforce the structure against g-stresses, while the mana engines provide the propulsion needed to make them go. While paying more attention to traditional flight would allow the devices to be constructed more cheaply, it would frequently come at the cost of aeromantic utility or maneuverability. The prohibitive expense of building an aerofighter (a combination of rare-metals, mana engines, and imbued thaumaturgic fields) limits their ownership to nations and only the most affluent of organizations.
