Primary Attribute: Essence (ESS)
Attribute Group: Spirit
Attribute Type: Power

Essence is a measure of how much spiritual "substance" a person has. A high Essence allows a wizard to channel large amounts of mana, gives a psi a larger internal store of power, and allows a shaman to impose his will on an unwilling spirit.

Aedra and daedra have very high Essence scores, but their Body Group scores are all 0 in their natural form. These beings can give themselves temporary scores in each of the Body Group attributes, at the cost of an equal amount of Essence damage. In effect, the creature borrows from its Essence in order to create a body for itself — and the more Essence it borrows, the stronger the body, and the weaker the creature's magical reserves.

A high Essence Score increases a character's Energy Points (EP).

Essence is added to a character's attack rolls in Spiritual Combat.
