Just wondering what has been hashed out so far about dragons in MK2K and their Dragon Federation?
If nothing has been done so far I was gonna add some ideas

Perhaps they are a nation of creatures that keep to themselves with little need for technology or for the modernization that has covered the world. Maybe there is no true organized government, just a true democracy where everyone decides the actions. They have a Coucil of Elders that meets at various times when decisions must absolutely be made in the mortal definition of a hurry ie. contact with other governments or once a year to discuss the path that the nation has been taking. These Elders are the dragons which have lived the longest and do have the great wisdom. Sometimes these Elders might be reluctant to be leaders but their society obligates them to do so.

Hi Tavon!

Your ideas closely mimic what I had in mind for the dragons. I would suggest using a word other than Elders, though, because that's a word that is used prominently in the Psi Collective and I wouldn't want there to be confusion between the two groups. In general, though, yes, you're right on the money: Dragons are solitary, independent creatures who need a lot of space. There aren't all that many of them, and they tend to get cranky when they're rubbing shoulders too much with their neighbors.

Of course, there are always exceptions. The older, more powerful dragons often become very skilled shape-shifters, and some of them live among humans, having learned to appreciate the material comforts of the mammals' world. More traditional dragons might think them odd, but it's difficult to characterize a "normal" dragon, given how individualistic they are…

Perhaps Forbearers might be a suitable substitute for "elder" although I was looking for a title that describes both old and wise since this is the idealized view the dragons have of their ancient denizens.

Not all of the ancient Forbearers reside within the Federation as you have pointed out (some just got too settled with the comforts of city life especially in Metamor)although because they are old and assumed wise they are obligated to help lead the proceeding generations of dragons on the right path. Once a year even those that have found a comfy nitch in the mammals little world are supposed to leave and convene to discuss the plan of action for the next year. This yearly migration of the citizens of the Federation who have chosen to live outside its borders has come to be called The Passage, after a public figure who is unable to get out of his dragon form stops ignoring his obligation and starts participating in the yearly meeting. The other ancients after feeling guilty for their self-indulgence gradually come crawling out of the nooks and crannies until The Passage becomes a time where the few but very large ancient dragons head toward the Federations borders.

Metamor City has the largest population of ancient dragons so during this period the skies fill with the several very large dragons migrating toward the council and it has become a holiday, a time of remeberance where the thoughts of those that are no longer there with you either because of distance, death or other circumstances are carried on dragon wing to your loved ones. This part of the holiday comes about because that public figure, Erik Darkwing, or Tavon as he used to be called long ago stops at several sites including the rubble that was his brithplace and Glen Avery to remeber those he loved that could not live as long as he.

The Lom Dynasty, or what remains of it, would be the natural convening point for most Dragons as it is the one empire to fully embrace and accept them throught the entirety of the Dynasty's history. Lom is also far removed from the greater population centers of the south.

Metamor would be a close second, but it's awful crowded for most Dragons.

After Talia killed Lilith and took her place, the Lom Dynasty collapsed into civil war between those who wanted to follow the new goddess, those who served Suspira, and those who wanted power for themselves. Talia probably could have asserted control if she had tried, but her interest was in the Outer Midlands and she moved her center of operations to Elderwood in order to focus on her campaign of conquest. By the time she regained her sanity, the Dynasty was in flames and past the point of recall.

After a hundred years of internecine struggle, Lom's economy was ruined and its people were burned out on war. Talia urged integration with the Empire, and a plebiscite passed the measure by a three-to-one margin. Today most of the former Dynasty's territory is owned by Talia's Syndicate through a set of shell corporations; those areas that are not run by the Syndicate are lightly populated and administered by an Imperial governor.

The Dragon Federation has its own territory, and has no need or desire to involve itself in the affairs of the "lesser" races. The dragons' numbers are small and they breed infrequently, so they keep to the mountains and find plenty of food for themselves. Those who choose to live among mortals usually do so by taking on human or Elven form, which they can maintain indefinitely.
