Xiang Jinn

Full Name: Xiang Jinn (see-AWNG) (Aliases unknown)
Species: Earthbound Fiend (Baalite) via a Moon Elf mother, Avatar of Ba'al. (Lom Shi-Un)
Allegiance: Ba'al
Religion: Cult of Ba'al.
Social Status: 5 (member of a prominent Moon Elf household) / 6 (Member of Lom Shi'Un diplomatic service)

Age: unknown (as an Earthbound Fiend, she’s immortal so her age cannot easily be determined), appears to be late 20s.
Eyes: Aquamarine, "frost-fire"
Hair: black
Height: tall

Physical Notes: Xiang is naturally very beautiful and athletic.

Behavioral Notes: Xiang is cold and distant most of the time. The distance is partly by her nature as Ba’al’s daughter and an acknowledgement of just how different she is from others. The coldness is partially a defense mechanism that anyone develops when travelling and living in the Plane of Shadow. Her smiles, when genuine, are often wry and amused. She is capable of compassion and fondness, but her outward expression doesn't stray far.

She refers to her father as Master when anyone else is witnessing (it is unknown as of this update if Ba'al allows her to call him Father when alone, as would be appropriate for her to do in a Moon Elf/Lom Shi'Un family). When around others who serve Ba'al, she takes the reverence that they show her as a trusted and high ranking officer of Ba'al as her natural due.

Supernatural Abilities: At least a Master Illusionist with an affinity for Shadow magic. Her skills are probably more powerful than that, but she keeps her full power (particularly when on the Prime Material Plane) hidden to keep the illusion of her mortality and her position with the Lom Shi'Un diplomatic service. Ability to use proxy spells from Ba’al.
Mage Guild: Unknown - probably has an official membership somewhere in Lom Shi'Un.
Primary Element: Shadow/Air
Focus Implement: Dagger, when she uses it.1

Armament: Primarily magic, and the ability to escape through Shadow.

Personality and Appearance

Xiang appears as a beautiful Lom Shi'Un Moon Elf Silvaan woman: tall with skin the color of vanilla creme, liquid black hair, aquamarine eyes that flash with frost fire, and an athletic body (with enough curves to be considered dangerous).

Background

Lom Shi'Un has has a long history with the daedra; Lilith, Ba'al, Suspira, and Talia in particular.

While the Church of Ba'al is no longer an official state religion (it was a few points in the past), Lom Shi'Un is one of the few places the church can act openly on Galendor.2 Xiang's Moon Elf mother was a highly ranked priestess who gained the favor of her Dark Lord and was granted an exclusive night in his bed and his child.

The child was immediately different than Ba'al's other Earthbound children; the magic inherent in the Elven blood resisting some of the daedric power while amplifying other parts of her father's gifts. Unlike other Ba'alites, Xiang retained the creamy Elven complexion (instead of the typical ink-black skin of her siblings) and the pointed Elven ears. Her intense aquamarine eyes and her ink black hair are hallmarks of her daedric heritage.

Upon reaching adulthood, Xiang was recognized as a master illusionist and became a member of the Lom Shi'Un Republic diplomatic service (and sometimes the clandestine service). She finds this work more interesting and fulfilling than being active within the day to day activities of the Church of Ba'al, however she does have full training in the church’s rites as a priestess.

The identity of her father is not a matter of public record, but is known to Rafak Aliri3 and is a noted possibility in her Lightbringer file after the affair of the Men Moranu. Members of the Church of Ba'al do know that she is trusted by Ba'al and a high ranking member of his hierarchy, and as such give her a large measure of respect and reverence. (It is uncertain just how many know that she is a daughter of Ba'al.)

Current Activities

During her most recent tour at the Lom Shi'Un Republic's embassy in Metamor City, she was assigned to help Alta Incorporated in identifying items to be returned to the Republic from the estate of the High Master Wizard (Illusionist) Ginger Scheel, who had purchased a number of items from a corrupt official years before. The initial searches didn't turn up everything they were expecting, then Alta's resources (the Lothanasi Order) discovered a large cache that was hidden by a powerful spell in the wizard's mansion. Since the mansion had been sold to a developer before the cache was found, a local detective, Rafak Aliri, was hired to find any items that had slipped under the radar.

What Xiang found, though, was beyond her wildest dreams; she found the Men Moranu, a tome her father had been searching for across the centuries. The book is a treatise written before the rise of the Lothanasi religion, detailing how power from the Plane of Shadow may be used without Ba'al's notice, and it is considered to be extremely dangerous by anyone who actually knows of its existence. She was able to return the Men Moranu to her father. Since the book was listed in the Lom Shi'Un records as a wizard's coded diary, a substitute was created that satisfied her government.

With the knowledge that Shadow Magic was involved, Alta Incorporated was able to go back to some previously-discarded items and find the rest of the items they were looking for.

Later, Xiang was identified as an Avatar (by using a proxy spell of her father's when Clyde Jessup is caught by a Forlorn), and shown using a dagger as her focus implement while on a mission with Ba’al and the Lightbringer agent to look for a path through the Plane of Shadow for a humanitarian mission (where Ba’al was able to get permission to identify and train more mages in Shadow magic within the Empire as the price for his help).

Organizational Membership

Xiang is an arcane specialist in the Lomish diplomatic service.

Lom Shi'Un

Known Allies

  • Private Investigator Rafak Aliri. The Lutin detective earned her respect during the recovery of the Men Moranu, even if he does not know it.

Known Enemies

  • Perhaps not enemies, but the Lightbringer Order is not happy with Xiang over the incident with the Men Moranu. They’re glad it’s not in common circulation anymore, but they’d prefer the book to be in their vaults, not Ba’al’s. Perhaps she can clear up the misunderstanding in the future if she cares to. The level of misunderstanding would be influenced on wheter or not Rafak told the LB that she did not summon the creatures who tried to take the book. In addition, it will be interesting to see what her status is with Agent Clyde Jessup after the events of To Walk In Shadow.
