Background

Victor and Egan Hunter were roommates and graduated from Westfall Academy, one of the Psi Collective's crèches, in 1980. They were fellow psi ops for five years before was Egan transferred to the Counterintelligence division of the MID. They still hung out, and Egan was as close to a friend as Victor was capable of having.

During their senior year at Westfall, Egan brought Victor to a prostitute he had been frequenting. During the encounter, Victor went into a rage and killed the woman (who was Fiona's mother) in front of Egan. Victor then had Egan mind wipe Fiona, and they brought the young female egoist to the Collective, claiming that her mother had been killed by rogue mages before they found her. They receive a substantial reward from the Hive for "rescuing" the girl.

During his time as a psi-op Victor was repeatedly promised a breeding cell, but over a decade later the Collective has not found "the right women to fit" with him due to his experiences in Psi Ops being fairly brutal. He had also gotten a "reputation for being too rough"2). In truth, the Elders of the Psi Collective knew of Victor's sociopathic tendencies, but kept him around because they recognized the need for someone vicious enough to do their dirty work. They believed that they could keep Victor under their control, and that his value outweighed the risk of keeping him around.

In 1989 Victor "saved" Abbey Preston and brought her into the Collective after her mundane parents died in their sleep. Later, in an internal monologue, it is revealed that he had killed them so that he could save her to start building trust, with the plan of seducing her and eventually having children with her.

By 1990 Victor has been serving as the Kano of the Westfall Academy samnak, while the people who would eventually be the Sommers cell and their friends were seniors looking at their final testing/rating. By this time he had been serving in MID's Psi Ops division for about ten years.

Making the Cut

In 1995, during a discussion with Daniel during a sparring match, Victor states that he has children via test tube. This means that he may have children the same age as or a little older than Abbey, depending on when they first started using his sperm.

He brings Daniel into the Matthias Skyport raid to defend and deliver the Vampire Syndicate package (plans on a device to shield the vampires' human servants from telepathy). During the mission he kills two psis from a Psi Collective team trying to steal the same package. Daniel finds out from the contact who was coordinating the run (Eva Selindi) that Victor knew about the Collective's team, and who was on it … including part of the Sommers Cell, and two of Daniel's friends from their days in the Academy. In the process of the mission, Daniel makes a deal with Collective's team (everyone wearing disguise charms so they didn't recognize each other) to have time to heal Victor from an abdominal wound. When healed, Victor then uses ESP and TK to kill Trace and Del in anger.

As part of his reward in the raid, Victor gains a version/prototype of the device from the Syndicate and it works successfully against Elder Miriam Bakhtavar. He also sets up a psi he kills to take the fall for the deaths of Del and Trace. It is later revealed that Victor knew who was on the Hive's team because he help set the team up.

Meanwhile, Victor has been seducing Abbey. With his payment and the psi-shield implant, they leave the Collective, and sometime later she gets pregnant (their daughter, Darla, has strong pre-cog visions while in the womb).

Egan is assigned by Miriam Bakhtavar to find Victor. But Victor kills him instead, around June 21, 1995. Victor then uses Egan's cell phone to track down Miriam (leading to her conversion to a vampire).

Victor's mental stability keeps deteriorating. While ecstatic that Abbey is pregnant with his child, he grows increasingly paranoid that Abbey will leave. Victor tries to keep that angry and paranoid side hidden from Abbey, but he eventually hits Abbey, prompting her to sneak out.

Victor uses a street-level seer, a desperate and drug-addicted man named Isaac, to track down Abbey at Eastside General Hospital. While there, he is attacked by security forces and driven into a psychotic rage. Sasha King escapes with Abbey and they get trapped in a supply vault where there are various drugs, including doses of Mad John. Sasha takes the Mad John and enters into a gestalt with Abbey in hopes of overcoming Victor. Victor kills Darla in an attempt to stop the psychic assault coming through Abbey, not realizing until afterward what he has done.

Victor escapes, but is then betrayed by Evan Selindi to the Sommers cell. Brian Sommers is able to use information passed along by the remnants of Sasha's psyche (she didn't get to take the dose of Peace in time and her body's nervous system burned itself out, while her mind was still in gestalt with Abbey), to take control of Victor's implant and immobilize him while Daniel Sharabi shoots and kills him.
