Background
Tunstall (the third child of four) is largely estranged from his parents and two older brothers. His family didn't deal well with Jon's emerging abilities, partly because they had neglected their own (much more modest) magical talents for the last several generations, and partly because of a fair amount of cultural bias. He has a younger (by eight years) sister who misses him terribly, though Jon is largely unaware of the extent of her affection, thinking that she's largely in agreement with the rest of the family.1
Jon broke the law by removing the collar that retrained his magical talent and used his abilities without registering with the Bureau of Magic Regulation. He ended up in Artax’s class for first-time magic offenders. He then saved Artax during an attack on the City by another former student of Artax’s, Parker.
After that attack, it was revealed to Artax that Jon was put on to Artax’s radar by Klepnos, Lord of Madness, as a possible apprentice. Jon has had some dealings with Klepnos directly, but exactly how the daedra lord introduced himself to the young man is unknown.
Personality
Jon is a bit cocky and self-assured. He has a thing for older women, and is not above showing off his athletic physique a little to get their attention.
