Background

Akkala was the goddess of Healing and Purity, and as Kammoloth's wife acted as the Queen of the Heavens, before the Great Fall.

Despite her husband's numerous lovers outside of their marriage, she was faithful to him… until she found out about the Starchild and her husband's plans to use this half-mortal child as a weapon against the Daedra Lords. Between that and the events surrounding the Great Fall, she left her husband.

Akkala required those in her service to abstain from sex, drugs (including tobacco & alcohol), and the killing of any natural creature except in self-defense or defense of innocents ("natural" defined as anything not unholy, cursed or undead). She directed her acolytes to seek out and destroy creatures of darkness, and to do good whenever the opportunity presents itself. Actions of healing or purity — or good deeds in general — done in her name are her source of power.

Akkala was one of the three fallen goddesses that accompanied the Starchild, Merai, on a tour of Lightbringer communities around the world after the Great Fall— Akkala, Artela and Velena had been among the first of the deities to accept the validity of Iluvatar's judgment, and they sought to learn what they could by traveling among their worshipers, helping people as best they could.

Holy Symbol

As a goddess, her holy symbol was a twin spiral — i.e., a spiral that curls in toward its center and then curls around itself on the way back out. Imagine a spiral galaxy with only two arms and you have the right idea.

Symbolic Creatures

Dove, unicorn.

Holy Day

Kala'kema January 10th. After New Year's Day, the faithful spend nine days in reflection, fasting, and ritual purification, as they examine their lives over the last year and pray for Akkala's guidance and favor during the coming year. The last day, Kala'kema, ended with a ceremony of renewal and blessing, followed by a community meal after sunset.

Current Activities

Akkala is an avatar of the Empire, serving as the head of the Ministry of Health. She is also the leader of the International Red Spiral, a nonprofit organization that works to provide medical care to the poor and needy around the world.
